I was talking with a friend about marriage this morning. He was against the civil partnership bill because he felt it undermined marriage. I have written about this before. Christians don’t need to be particularly concerned that Biblically-modelled, Trinityempowered covenantal unions are described the the word “marriage” which sometimes is used for things that are not covenantal in the same way.

Then I read this lovely quote from the French historian Marc Bloch:

to the great despair of historians, men fail to change their vocabulary every time they change their customs.
